Wayne Rooney could quit Derby County in the summer even if he helps engineer a miracle relegation escape. The former Manchester United and England goal ace is growing more and more frustrated by the protracted sale of the crisis-hit club.
Rooney has stuck stoically to the task of trying to keep The Rams in the Championship but wants answers. He’ll definitely see the job out to the end of the season but wants to front up new owners and demand the tools for the job if he is to stay on.
The 36-year-old is prepared to head-up a League One campaign next season if the club is relegated as long as he knows exactly where he stands. But he will insist on a set of demands he sees as minimum requirements to rescue his playing squad.
The big problem is the race to find a new owner has dragged on.
