Joe Otterson TV Reporter “Mythic Quest” Season 4 and its new companion anthology series “Side Quest” have set their premiere dates at Apple TV+. “Mythic Quest” will return for its fourth season on Jan. 29 with two new episodes, followed by one new episode weekly every Wednesday through March 26.

Nearly two years after the conclusion of Season 3, Apple TV+ has set Wednesday, January 29 for the Season 4 premiere of Mythic Quest, its hit workplace comedy series from Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day and Megan Ganz. The fourth season will launch with two episodes on January 29, followed by one new episode weekly through Wednesday, March 26.

And we get to really go into origin stories that span decades,» she adds. Season 2 picks up a year after the events of season 1, which saw Detective Danner (Haddish) solving the murder of performer Xavier (Dave Franco) and clearing the names of his former high school classmates, Aniq (Richardson) and Zoë (Chao). Now, the two are officially dating, with Aniq preparing to meet Zoë's family for the first time during the wedding between her sister, Grace (Poppy Liu), and her fiancé, Edgar (Zach Woods). Among the many guests — and list of suspects — are Edgar's family, including mother Isabel (Elizabeth Perkins) and sister Hannah (Anna Konkle), as well as former business partner Sebastian (Jack Whitehall) and the groom's adored pet lizard, Roxana (played by eight different lizards named Bob).

BreAnna Bell Nancy and Celia may be back in business. Elizabeth Perkins, who starred as Celia Hodes on the Showtime series “Weeds” from 2005-2009, tells Variety she’d gladly step back into the role now that a revival of the show is reportedly in the works. “It’s just that— it’s talking,” Perkins said when asked about talk of a reboot. “I’d be on board. I loved working with Mary-Louise Parker. I love those two characters together, Nancy and Celia!” Deadline reported in May that a “Weeds” reboot was in development at Showtime with lead star Parker attached to star and executive produce. (Variety first exclusively reported the reboot was in the works at Starz in 2019). Lionsgate, the studio behind the production, declined to comment at the time.

After showcasing a refreshing, genre-blending format in Season 1, “The Afterparty” is back for a second season and — you guessed it — someone dies, again. The first season was highly acclaimed, with standout characters like Haddish’s Detective Danner and Richardson’s Aniq quickly catching audiences’ attention.  Season 2 will premiere on Wednesday, June 12, with two brand new episodes, followed by one weekly episode every Wednesday through Sept. 6.

Ellise Shafer The scripted pilot based on Jessica Simpson’s bestselling memoir “Open Book” is not moving forward at Amazon Freevee, Variety has confirmed. Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s period comedy “Western” has also been scrapped, though both potential series are now being shopped elsewhere. The pilot for “Open Book” was ordered by Amazon Freevee back in October, with Tom Kapinos set to write and executive produce and Adam Bernstein on board as a director and executive producer. Katelyn Tarver would play Sadie Sparrow, a young singer based on Simpson, while John Stamos was cast as her older songwriter, Butch. Over time, the two would develop a connection that went beyond music.

Blume is the literary juggernaut behind dozens of children, young adult and adult fiction novels, including “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret,” “Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing” and “Blubber.” The documentary dives into specific titles and examines their impact. While Blume’s work has provided comfort to many readers, her candid approach to topics such as puberty, masturbation and sex has led some titles to become banned, which the author continues to fight against.

Matt Donnelly Senior Film Writer The Gersh Agency has promoted literary agent Sandra Lucchesi and talent agent Matt Vioral to partners, expanding its total leadership to 28 people.  Gersh, which ranks as the lone privately-owned full service agency, makes the move amid consolidation and rapid ground-shifting in the representation landscape. A spokesperson told Variety the elevations serve to “highlight the strength and history of our resources while taking advance of our business around multi-hyphenate clients.” Agency co-presidents David and Bob Gersh, along with managing partner Leslie Siebert, said they were “very proud of the leadership Sandra and Matt have brought to the agency and their respective departments and how well respected they are by their industry peers. We are thrilled to promote them both to partner.”
