Christopher Hemsworth (born 11 August 1983) is an Australian actor. He rose to prominence playing Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series Home and Away (2004–07) before beginning a film career in Hollywood by taking on parts in the science fiction film Star Trek (2009) and the thriller A Perfect Getaway (2009).
Hemsworth went on to star in the fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), the war film Red Dawn (2012), the action thriller Blackhat (2015), the biographical thriller In the Heart of the Sea (2015), the comedy Ghostbusters (2016), and the Men in Black film series spin-off Men in Black: International (2019). His most critically acclaimed roles include the comedy horror The Cabin in the Woods (2012) and the biographical sports film Rush (2013), in which he portrayed James Hunt.
Halle Berry has expressed her admiration for her co-star Chris Hemsworth, saying she’ll be “a fan for the rest of her life” after the Australian actor stood up for her on set.
Berry was with Hemsworth at CinemaCon in Las Vegas to promote their new thriller Crime 101, when she spoke to E! News on the red carpet, and spoke elliptically about a moment Hemsworth had proved himself during filming.
Berry said: “[He’s] a stand-up guy. I won’t go into it now, but he stood up for me in a moment in our movie, and instantly I knew right then I’m gonna follow this guy, be a fan of this guy for the rest of his life because he stood up for a woman. “He didn’t have to do it and he did it.” Hemsworth previously shared that he had felt intimidated to work with Berry, saying: “I’ve admired Halle’s work for many, many years.
I was obviously very intimidated to sit opposite her within a scene and try and, you know, not just be in awe of what she was doing.” Crime 101 sees Hemsworth play a jewel thief with Berry as an insurance broker.
