Lily Allen has revealed she unsuccessfully auditioned for a role in hit HBO series The White Lotus.Speaking recently on her Miss Me?
podcast with Miquita Oliver, the ‘Smile’ singer said the audition was part of a broader move to “put herself out there more” in her acting career, and shared she had a goal of starring in a “UK detective drama”.Her previous acting roles have included a stint in West End plays 2:22: A Ghost Story and The Pillowman, while she made her small screen debut in 2023 in Sky Atlantic comedy Dreamland.Touching on her turn to acting, Allen told listeners she hadn’t “auditioned for anything really”, but added: “I did do a self-tape for The White Lotus and obviously did not get it.
But I’m a bit scared of doing self-tapes.”She has not yet revealed which role she auditioned for.“I think maybe now I would do them because I don’t think people give as much of a shit about me anymore,” she continued. “Back in the day, I didn’t like the idea of casting offices having a tape of me in case they would share it with other people.
Now I don’t really subscribe to that fear so much, I don’t really care.”The destination drama is set to conclude tonight (April 6), with a 90-minute finale airing on HBO at 9pm ET.
