The Serpent Queen season two is on the way!

The Starz period drama The Serpent Queen is beefing up its cast for Season 2.

After a few years in limbo, the BAFTAs finally found a host to replace the much-missed Stephen Fry in David Tennant. The Doctor Who actor proved an amiable and funny emcee, although much of his humor would have gone way over the non-Brits in the audience, starting with a lengthy filmed skit riffing on his BBC TV series Staged, co-starring Michael Sheen. It was a night of surprises, not especially pleasant ones for the teams behind Barbie and Killers of the Flower Moon, and there were no egregious upsets. Neither were there any of the usual technical nightmares that have plagued the event in the past.

Actor Samantha Morton is set for special recognition at the Baftas on Sunday (February 18) as the Academy has awarded her a Fellowship. Samantha, who is widely regarded as one of the standout actors of her generation, said “As a proud BAFTA member I am honoured, profoundly humbled and grateful to BAFTA for giving me this award".

Richard Russell, have released the single ‘Cry Without End’.The song is the first track by the duo that has been made available on streaming services, following on from their vinyl-only 2023 singles ‘Hunger Hill Road / Ghosts Are Dancing’ and ‘Supplication / Headbouncing’. The track also features contributions from the Manchester composer and poet Alabaster DePlume.Morton’s fragile vocals are presented a cappella at first, before a gentle, ghostly arrangement and ethereal backing vocals seep into the track.

The Louis Theroux Podcast, available on Spotify, starts back up on Tuesday January 23 with Mescal, who shot to stardom following his role in Irish miniseries Normal People.
