John Lewis fans know that the arrival of November signals the imminent release of their much-anticipated annual Christmas advert.This year, people have been treated to a teaser trailer while eagerly awaiting the full reveal.
In collaboration with Saatchi and Saatchi, the retail giant has released a short clip centred around a striking pink jumper.The heartwarming ad, titled 'Give Knowingly', traces the journey of this standout piece of clothing.
Narrated by actress Samantha Morton, we learn that the vibrant hue is not one the recipient would have chosen for herself. "Knowing you're not into pink, but your mum knows it suits you and that this will become the jumper," she narrates as a young girl carefully wraps the gift in white and red striped paper.
We then see the woman receiving the jumper at a festive gathering, only to remove it and leave it on a chair. But as her mother predicted, it soon becomes a cherished item in her wardrobe, reports the Mirror. "In four years time, you'll be cross with yourself when you -'"Samantha begins, just as the woman accidentally drops a dollop of jam on the pink jumper.The teaser shows the woman casually draping it over the back of the sofa while she's engrossed in a book, and later packing it away because she's dyed her hair pink and "Pink on pink is too much pink".
