Matt Damon Is Odysseus In First Look At Christopher Nolan’s Epic Greek Mythology Reimagining ‘The Odyssey’

Anticipation is building for Christopher Nolan’s next epic. Universal has unveiled a first look of Matt Damon playing the lead in Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s The Odyssey.

The side-angle shot shows Damon, who worked with Nolan in Oppenheimer, clad in military armor. An X post unveiling the image reiterated the movie’s July 17 2026 release date.

Just before Christmas, it was revealed that Nolan’s latest project would be the adaptation of Homer’s epic poem composed around the 8th century BCE.

As one of the foundational poetic texts of Western literature, the story follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca on his dangerous journey home after the Trojan war.
