Temperatures overnight plummeted to -11C in parts of the UK with forecasters warning more snow and freezing fog is due in the coming days.
A Met Office yellow warning for ice between Nottingham and Edinburgh remains in place until 11am today, as does another, between Montrose, Elgin and Fraserburgh.
A third ice warning covers Northern Ireland between Newry and Belfast until 10am. Meanwhile, the agency's meteorologists continue to track two weather events "fighting for influence" over the country - similar conditions to which brought about the Beast from the East in 2018.
