Stereophonics‘ Kelly Jones has announced an intimate 2024 UK solo tour set to take place later this Spring.The six-date run of gigs will see Jones play 12 shows – two on each day at each venue with one performance set to go on at 7pm GMT and the other at 9pm GMT. The tour will kick off at the Birmingham Town Hall on Sunday, May 5.

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has recalled the time his neighbour complained about the volume of his ‘Tom Jones records’, only to discover it was actually Tom Jones singing.The singer-songwriter recalled the incident in a recent appearance on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show, hosted by Zoe Ball.Reflecting on his friendship with the legendary Welsh singer, he revealed that they have known each other for over 25 years, and he once got him into hot water with his upstairs neighbour.According to Jones, the ‘She’s A Lady’ vocalist had returned to his flat after a slot on the Jools Holland show, and the two of them, along with late Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable began singing around the house.“I’ve known him since ’97… I played a few gigs with him last weekend actually with Far From Saints down at Cardiff Castle,” he began.“He came back to my flat once after doing a Jools Holland show with Stuart. We were having a drink in the house and it was going on a bit,” he continued.

Stereophonics frontman Kelly Jones has criticised the use of artificial intelligence in songwriting.As more artists are speaking out about the increased prevalence of AI in the music industry, the singer said that art is about “a real person’s expression”.Jones was speaking to Times Radio at Latitude Festival on Sunday (July 23), after he’d performed with his new band Far From Saints when he shared his doubts about AI.The musician said it wasn’t until he attended the Ivor Novello Awards in May this year that he released AI technology was being used more to “finish off people’s songwriting” (via BBC).“I’m not against forward-thinking technology and how things are progressing, but I think art should come from people, I mean the basics of it anyway,” he said.“I think art has always been somebody’s expression, a real person’s expression from a heart, from a head.”He added: “If you’re going to start an idea, then a computer finishes it, I mean, it’s OK, but it’s just about algorithms and things like that.”The singer also said he’s “not really into 10 songwriters on a song”, adding: “It’s like if you’re making a painting, you’ve got 10 painters chucking paint on a canvas. I mean, whose painting is it anymore?”Jones is not the first artist to cast doubt over emerging AI technology in the music industry.

Kelly Jones has revealed that he still dreams about the late Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable “at least five times a week”.Cable played with the Welsh band between 1992 and 2003, before the musician and broadcaster tragically died in 2010. He was 40 years old.During the most recent episode of the podcast I Never Thought It Would Happen – hosted by Chris Difford of Squeeze – Jones opened up about how Cable was “like a big brother” to him after being asked did he “take him on stage with him?” (via Wales Online).“Stuart turns up in my dreams,” Jones explained, saying it was an “intense” time when the drummer passed away.“At least five times a week [I dream about him]. It’s bizarre,” the singer continued.

Set to be released on June 16, the project follows the band’s debut single ‘Let’s Turn This Back Around’ which was released earlier this year.‘Take It Through The Night’ is a blues-inspired track, that sees the three-piece channel iconic ’70s bands Led Zeppelin and Fleetwood Mac.“Patty wrote the whole ‘Take It Through The Night’ lyric herself,” said Jones.
