Pearl Jam have announced a special ‘Dark Matter-verse’ event to take place in London on the same day as the release of their new album.‘Dark Matter’, the band’s 12th studio album, is set for release on April 19 via Monkeywrench Records, and can be pre-ordered/pre-saved here. The band have already shared the title track and its follow-up single ‘Running’.And now, they have revealed details of the ‘Dark Matter-verse’, which will take place at Outernet in London on April 19, from 2pm to 7pm.

Starkey explained that it came together on the day The Who and Guns N’ Roses both played at Rock In Rio in 2017.“Duff [McKagan] and I went in a local studio and cut bass for a cover of T-Rex[‘s] ‘Children Of The Revolution’,” he wrote.“My dad played drums in LA (while I fudged the bass) then in Rio, Duff cut bass.

Roger Daltrey has said that he never reads reviews of his work, whether they’re positive or negative.The singer of The Who wrote a “backstage diary” for The Times in which, among other things, he reflected on the final series of concerts he curated for Teenage Cancer Trust. He mentioned that he avoids even positive reviews on social media on the basis that likes and comments are “just ego food”.“The reviews [of the concert] are in but I won’t read them,” he wrote.

Eddie Vedder has said that he thinks Pearl Jam have “one or two” good records left in them, ahead of the release of their new album.The singer was speaking to MOJO Magazine a month ahead of the release of ‘Dark Matter’, their 12th studio record.“The older you get the better you are at living in the present,” he said. “The understanding you have less time is the biggest number in the quotient. Eddie Vedder has said that taking his daughter to a Taylor Swift show reminded him of being with “the misfits” at punk rock shows as a kid.The Pearl Jam frontman said that he was struck by passion and inclusivity of the Swifties when he accompanied one of his daughters to the show, and compared it with the community in which he grew up.In an interview with Mojo, Vedder recalled the “galvanising and powerful” energy that united the audience, and spoke about “the run-up to it, making friendship bracelets with her and the generosity of these young girls and boys, trading these bracelets with different messages on them – lyrics, song titles, just acts of good will on these little bracelets.”Vedder was born in Illinois, and spent his teenage years between San Diego and Chicago, where he became strongly attached to the respective local punk scenes, joining the bands Surf and Destroy, Indian Style and Bad Radio. As he explained, he can see similarities to those days in Swiftie culture.“They had found their tribe, they were all agreeing on something,” he said.

The Who frontman Roger Daltrey has announced that he will be stepping down as the curator for the Teenager Cancer Trust gigs.The announcement was made today (January 8) via BBC, and comes following the rock veteran acting as the curator for the annual charity gigs for over two decades.The benefit shows have been taking place at the Royal Albert Hall since 2000 – although took a break in 2020 and 2021 due to the pandemic. Since its initiation, it has raised more than £32million in ticket sales and has gone on to support those struggling with cancer.Daltrey will be stepping down from the role after this year’s set of concerts.For the 2024 instalment – due to take place between March 18 and March 24 – Daltrey and The Who will open the series with two gigs on March 18 and 20, and an evening of comedy is scheduled in between.Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will appear on the Thursday (March 21), featuring support from Blossoms, and performances from The Chemical Brothers and Young Fathers are lined-up on the following two nights.The series will draw to a close with a celebration of the series, titled ‘Ovation’, starring some huge names from across the rock world.
