Neighbours Toadie star's life - forgotten roles, huge weight loss and Big Brother stint
Neighbours this week. The soap fan-favourite has had many tough times in his relationships throughout the years, from the death of wife Sonya to Dee supposedly being killed when their car drove off a cliff on their honeymoon. Will this be Toadie's forever after?Since joining the soap in 2006, actor Ryan Maloney has become a fan-favourite as the lovable Toadie - but he has also led a very interesting life off screen too. With a few months until Neighbours final episode airs on August 1, 2022, Daily Star takes a closer look inside actor Ryan Maloney's life.Although Ryan Maloney is beloved by generations of Neighbours fans for his role as Jarrod "Toadfish" Rebecchi, he actually auditioned for a different role in the soap.In the early nineties, he auditioned for the role of Brett Stark - who was a regular character on the programme between 1993 and 1996.Although Ryan did not win the role, he landed the role of a character called Cyborg who appeared in one episode of Neighbours in 1994.He certainly must have delighted the producers, as it was not long before he made another cameo - this time as Jarrod Rebecchi, the brother of Kevin "Stonefish" Rebecchi - for one scene in 1995.His recurring guest role as Kevin's brother became so popular with fans that Toadie became a cast regular one year later in 1996, and the rest as they say, is history.Ryan also has a lot of famous fans, with Coldplay singer Chris Martin reported to be a fan of the soap. The actor revealed to News.com.au that the band even dedicated a song to him on their first Australian tour, saying: "Chris Martin looked up and said, ‘Oh s***, that’s Toadie off Neighbours! "'We’re going to dedicate this next song to you.’ And then they started playing Yellow.
