Yellow and amber warnings have been issued for parts of Scotland and northern England as temperatures plunged to freezing. Up to 30cm of snow could fall overnight into Thursday in Scotland, while parts of northern England could see around 20cm.
The Met Office has issued an amber snow warning for Central, Tayside & Fife, the Highlands, the Grampians, the Lothian Borders and North East England.
