Britain is braced for 31C for a second day in a row, despite being mid-way through September with autumn well and truly on the horizon.
Monday was the warmest September day since 2016 with the temperatures topping out in the Channel Isles and parts of Surrey. That was followed by lingering heavy showers through the night and into today in Scotland and Northern Ireland - but elsewhere overnight was mild despite the advancing months, with highs of 16C.
The showers will move north through the morning, with a few isolated downpours possibly in the southwest and South Wales on the cards.
