Heavy rain is forecast in most parts of the UK this weekend as Storm Alex hits the country. Amber and yellow warnings are in place as wind and rain pose a risk of flooding in parts of England.

Temperatures are expected to stay in the low teens over the weekend, according to forecasters. Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: "It's going to be a very wet weekend, with some places wet enough for an amber warning to be in force." The forecaster, however, said that not everywhere will be wet all the time.

Parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland will see clear spells overnight and in the early morning, he said. McGivern added western Scotland and Northern Ireland will experience a chilly start to Saturday.
