Halyna Hutchins’ family slams Alec Baldwin’s ‘shameless’ TLC show, demands he testify in wrongful death lawsuit
the October 2021 shooting on the set of his movie “Rust.”Gloria Allred, who represents Hutchins’ mother, Olga Solovey, father Anatolii Androsovych and sister Svetlana Zemko, filed a notice of deposition in New Mexico on Monday, according to People. In the notice, Hutchins’ family demands that the “30 Rock” alum testifies on May 9 in the wrongful death civil suit they originally filed in February 2023.“It is long overdue for Alec Baldwin to admit and face the real-life consequences that he caused Halyna’s parents and sister. It is time for him to face reality under oath,” they told the outlet.Baldwin, 66, was holding a prop gun during a rehearsal for a scene in “Rust” when it discharged, killing Hutchins and injuring director Joel Souza. The actor, who also served as a producer on “Rust,” has always maintained that he did not pull the trigger that fatally shot Hutchins and did not know that the gun was loaded with live bullets. He was charged with involuntary manslaughter, but the case was dismissed in July 2024 because prosecutors withheld evidence that could have been beneficial in the star’s defense.Prosecutors ultimately dropped their appeal of the ruling last December.

Alec Baldwin sues prosecutors and investigators tied to ‘Rust’ case
Actor Alec Baldwin has filed a civil lawsuit for malicious prosecution and civil rights violations in the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the Western movie “Rust.”The lawsuit was filed Thursday at state district court in Santa Fe, where a judge in July dismissed a charge of involuntary manslaughter against Baldwin in the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.Baldwin also alleges defamation in the suit, saying that prosecutors and investigators intentionally mishandled evidence as they pursued the case.Defendants named in the lawsuit include special prosecutor Kari Morrissey and Santa Fe District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies, along with three investigators from the Santa Fe County sheriff’s office and the county board of commissioners.“Defendants sought at every turn to scapegoat Baldwin for the acts and omissions of others, regardless of the evidence or the law,” the lawsuit states. It also says prosecutors and investigators targeted Baldwin for professional or political gain.Hutchins died shortly after being wounded during a rehearsal for the movie “Rust” in October 2021 at a film-set ranch on the outskirts of Santa Fe, New Mexico.Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer, was pointing a pistol at Hutchins when it discharged, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza.

Convicted ‘Rust’ armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed pleads guilty in separate criminal charge
18-month prison term at a New Mexico state penitentiary for involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. In the “Rust” case, prosecutors blamed Gutierrez-Reed for unwittingly bringing live ammunition onto the movie set and for failing to follow basic gun safety protocols.Gutierrez-Reed shuffled into the Santa Fe courtroom Monday in a beige jumpsuit, handcuffs and ankle shackles to change her plea to guilty and waive her right to trial.“I’d just like to apologize to the court and thank you for your judgment today,” she said. The case stems from evidence that a few weeks before “Rust” began filming in October 2021, Gutierrez-Reed carried a gun into a downtown bar in Santa Fe where firearms are prohibited.Special prosecutor Kari Morrissey said Gutierrez-Reed filmed herself in the bathroom of the bar with a handgun — explaining how she snuck in the prohibited firearm in a video that was obtained when authorities searched the armorer’s phone during the “Rust” investigation.Gutierrez-Reed was convicted in March at trial of involuntary manslaughter in the fatal shooting of Hutchins. She has an appeal of that conviction pending in a higher court.Baldwin, the lead actor and co-producer for “Rust,” was pointing a gun at Hutchins during a rehearsal for the film when the revolver went off, killing Hutchins and wounding director Joel Souza. In July, Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer dismissed an involuntary manslaughter case against Baldwin halfway through a trial based on the withholding of evidence by police and prosecutors from the defense.
