The Met Office is warning today's heavy rain could lead to flooding in parts of Britain - with five named storms on the cards for Autumn.
A yellow rain warning is in place for south west Scotland until midday, while the Scottish Environment Protection Agency has issued two flood alerts.
And with torrential rain to sweep across much of the UK, the Environment Agency predicts flooding around Wayford Bridge and Barton Broad in East Anglia.
BBC forecaster Darren Bett said Britain's weather will take a swift U-turn after the sun and mild temperatures of Tuesday. "All this cloud is streaming in from the Atlantic to bring some rain," he said.
