A pet owner suffered three broken ribs and a fractured skull fighting off a violent dognapper. Brett Matthews was set upon by a man who leapt from a van and tried to snatch his seven-year-old Jack Russell Chihuahua cross, Toby.
The 30-year-old desperately clung on to his pet while his attacker battered him. Brett was walking near to his home in Norwich at around 6.30am when he heard a vehicle pull up behind him.
He said: “The next thing I know my face is in the floor and some bloke is yanking on the dog lead trying to pull it out of my hand.
It just felt like he wasn’t stopping hitting me, and I felt myself getting weaker. “I thought he was going to kill me and take my dog - the thought of him stealing Toby was heart-wrenching.” A neighbour
