Scots boy fractures skull in horror 30ft cliff plunge while trying to save his bike

He slipped while trying to hold onto the bike he was pushing along the narrow coastal path near Buchan Ness Lighthouse, Boddam, Aberdeenshire, last Wednesday on 15 July.

Grateful parents Ashleigh and Steven have thanked the coastguard team and helicopter crew who rescued him. Last night his mother Ashleigh, 35 revealed she had feared the worst when she first got the call and raced round.

She said: "It was crazy, he has been so lucky. "He had been playing at the back of the lighthouse at the washer, where you can go swimming, with his pals.

He was walking back pushing his bike when it started slipping. He wanted to save it and went head first over the top and down the cliff.
