Lyon fans riot and destroy own stadium after West Ham batter them in Europa League
Europa League by West Ham United on Thursday night.Goals from Craig Dawson, Declan Rice and Jarrod Bowen sealed an unforgettable 3-0 victory for David Moyes' side on what turned out to be one of the most momentous evenings in West Ham's recent history.Things got ugly after the full-time whistle though as flares were set off in the home end and barricades went flying as dozens of angry French fans clashed with stewards - and eventually police - as they battled their way towards the pitch inside Lyon's Groupama Stadium.Lyon, who were narrow favourites to progress to the semi-finals, found themselves 2-0 at half-time following a quickfire double from the visitors just before the interval, and boos rang out across the ground as the players headed back to the dressing rooms. The Hammers added a third shortly after the restart and the atmosphere began to turn a little toxic. TalkSPORT's Ian Abrahams described the scenes at full-time."Well the reaction from the West Ham fans is obviously overjoyed, but not the Lyon fans, we have a bit of a problem now emerging at both ends behind the goals. How do you think UEFA should punish clubs whose fans riot like this? Let us know in the comments section."Behind one goal there was basically barriers separating the fans from the pitch and those barriers have now been pushed up against the police," he added."One of the barriers have been pushed over and two flares have been lit and now the other end to replicate that, again the fans have jumped over the initial hoardings and are now pushing against the metal barriers to try and get to the police."The Lyon fans are really not happy about the situation tonight.

The guy literally tested positive for Covid this morning," wrote another.A third said: "This is ridiculous, no one gives a s*** about Covid safety anymore do they? Thought Paqueta was positive."Should Paqueta be allowed to play? Let us know what you think in the comments section.David Moyes' side head into tonight's clash with everything still to play for after drawing 1-1 during a tense encounter at the London Stadium last week.Jarrod Bowen initially gave the home side the lead before former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Tanguy Ndombele hit back a few minutes later to level the tie, and the Hammers were frustratingly denied a late chance by a pitch-invader who brainlessly stormed the field while they were counter-attacking.Victory tonight would see the east London side head into their first proper European semi-final in 46 years, so here's hoping Paqueta doesn't infect them all out there!
