Way back when rhinestone jeans and handkerchief tops were still a thing, the nation spent its summers held captive by Big Brother.

And it's 20 years ago today that the show first launched on Channel 4, with 6.9 million viewers tuning in to watch the antics of 11 relatively normal housemates.

Indeed, it was a more innocent time. Instead of performing sex acts on bottles, the group kept chickens, grew their own veg and learned the Morse code.

The raciest moments came when Irish hunk Tom McDermott gave Melanie Hill a sexy massage, and Nichola Holt covered her naked body in clay and threw herself at the wall.
