Peak season flights are being flogged at bargain prices as the school summer holidays kick off this week. Trips to some tourist hotspots are being offered at less than half the average prices of peak months last year, as airlines try to tempt virus-wary holidaymakers overseas.
Meanwhile demand for UK ‘staycations’ is booming, with some destinations reporting more than a 250% surge in demand. The Mirror found direct return flights to the Greek Island of Mykonos advertised from just £65 on Sunday for dates in mid-August, typically high-season for holidaymakers.
That is down from a reported average of £275 for a round-trip to the Aegean destination at the same time last year and in 2018.
