A further 5,760 people were diagnosed with Covid-19 on Wednesday (August 5) with another 4,088 confirmed yesterday.These are the highest levels of new cases in the country since the beginning of April and marking a steady rise in the number of people contracting the virus.
One of the most popular holiday destinations for Brits, travel was initially permitted to and from the UK under the travel corridor scheme.
But as cases continued to rise, the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) changed their travel advice at the end of July. The government body is now advising against all non-essential travel to mainland Spain, including the Canary.
