According to the statement released by his family in the aftermath, the Black Panther actor ‘died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.’ The same statement also finally informed the public that back in 2016, Chadwick was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, which then progressed to stage 4, killing him after four years of treatment and surgeries.
