Nigerien rock group Mdou Moctar have shared details of their forthcoming album Funeral for Justice. Out on May 12 via Matador, the project is the sixth from the group, founded by the eponymous Tuareg rock guitarist. Today’s news comes with the release of the new album’s title track.

Trinidad Barleycorn Documentary “Dreamers” has been acquired by Swiss sales agency Lightdox. The film centers on Carlos, who arrived in Chicago from Mexico in 1993, at the age of 9, with his parents and three brothers. For 30 years, he has never been able to leave the city where he went to school and now works, coaches a soccer team, and pays his taxes, because he is still undocumented. He leads a discreet life, trying never to make a mistake, out of fear of being deported. “Even though I think of myself as an American, and consider America my country, I could get deported anytime because my country doesn’t think of me as one of its own,” he says in the film.

Ed Sheeran has collaborated with Nigerian singer-songwriter Fireboy DML on a forthcoming remix of the latter’s hit song, ‘Peru’, in which Sheeran sings in the Niger-Congo language Yorùbá.Fireboy DML – the stage name of Adedamola Adefolahan – tweeted a snippet of the song alongside a screen grab of his phone on December 21, revealing Sheeran’s input on the track.

Tuareg rock sensation Mdou Moctar announced his 2022 international tour dates today and shared a video of a live performance with his band on the banks of the Niger River.
