As fears build for the safety of those who worked against the military organisation, the British Government unveiled details of a scheme to provide sanctuary for those in danger.

UK ministers had been facing calls to step up rescue efforts for those who wish to leave the country since the fall of Kabul to Taliban militants on Sunday.
