Fast Asleep, Wide Awake, Dr Nerina Ramlakhan, has noticed a sudden spike in online sleep consultation requests in recent weeks. ‘Many of us are experiencing increased anxiety because of what’s happening, which is having a knock-on effect on our sleep and our bedroom behaviour,’ she says. ‘It’s likely many couples who find themselves in this situation now and choose to sleep apart, could well realise the benefits and make it a permanent solution.’There are a number of benefits to sleeping solo, she says. ‘It can be beneficial if you have different shift patterns or one of you needs to prepare for something like a big presentation,’ she explains.
