Russian forces turning into 'Dad's Army' as Putin recruits volunteers aged 60

Vladimir Putin is now relying on the help of his very own 'Dad's Army' to help fight his war on Ukraine. In a desperate attempt to make up the numbers to replace soldiers killed in battle, the age cap for Russian military volunteers has been stretched to 60.Retired servicemen are being called up specifically to fill the roles of tank commanders, snipers and engineers in two Siberian cities after around 15,000 Russian soldiers fell to resistance in Ukraine.A rallying cry from the Kremlin for former soldiers to return to duty and make their way to either Chelyabinsk or Tyumen, has been reported by Russian media.

According to The Times, around 60,000 reservists from across Russia have been summoned to arms as was the case with inexperienced young conscripts, who typically serve for about a year.

Russia's youngest soldiers aged between 18 and 27 make up a quarter of the army but officials claim they are not being sent to fight in Ukraine.

Yet a small number of the 134,500 young new conscripts were reportedly sent to Ukraine by mistake.NATO figures have Russia down to have so far lost 15,000 troops while Ukraine has disclosed its military the death toll stands at 18,300.
