Prison officer 'blinded by love' let escaped inmate stay at her parents' house

Liverpool Echo.On July 18, 2017, King was transferred to HMP Sudbury, near Derby – but the lovers kept in touch on an illicit mobile phone.Over the next 46 days the couple would send over 3,000 texts to each other.The 30-year-old prison officer travelled from to Ellesmere Port on the night of August 31, where she left her car and travelled to HMP Sudbury and met King outside the prison grounds.She returned home at around 4am – and that same day worked a shift at HMP Altcourse.On September 1, 2017, King escaped from HMP Sudbury – but there is no indication that Jones assisted him in doing so.After his escape, she continued to stay in touch with him in the hours following his escape and it's understood King travelled to St Helens, Manchester.
