Goodbye Viacom and CBS: ViacomCBS Changes Corporate Name to Paramount

Singer Traci Braxton, who was the sister of Toni and Tamar Braxton, has died. She was 50. Toni announced the news on her Instagram account early Saturday on behalf of the Braxton family.

Traci Braxton, singer, actress, reality star, and member of the famed Braxton family has passed away. She was 50 years old. Her husband, Kevin Surratt, shared the news of her death with TMZ, revealing that this news comes after she fought a lengthy battle with Esophageal cancer, which she chose to take on away from the public eye.

Congratulations are in order for Patrick Mahomes and Brittany Matthews. The lovebirds, who started dating when they were just teenagers, got married on March 11. They had a gorgeous wedding ceremony in Hawaii, with their adorable one-year-old daughter, Sterling Skye Mahomes, and many other loved ones in attendance. Patrick’s brother, Jackson Mahomes, served as the Best Man for the nuptials.

Traci Braxton died at the age of 50 after a long battle with cancer on Friday (March 11), according to TMZ. The Braxton Family Values star was reportedly surround by her sisters — Toni, Towanda, Trina and Tamar — and mom when she quietly passed. Find out more about the entertainer, below.

Hailey Baldwin, 25, is reportedly home after spending time in a hospital for a brain condition that may be COVID-related. The model was admitted to a hospital in Palm Springs for an undisclosed amount of time, according to TMZ, after the condition was affecting the way she moved. This type of COVID side effect is usually suffered by older people, so the news definitely comes as quite a shock.

Bob Odenkirk is sharing more details about his near-fatal heart incident that occurred on the set of "Better Call Saul" last year. Odenkirk, 59, opened up about the July 2021 health scare in a sit-down interview with "Today." At the time of the incident, reports said he was rushed to the hospital after experiencing a heart attack. In a sneak-peek clip released from the upcoming TV interview, Odenkirk said doctors have called it a "heart incident." "Hey everybody, I had a heart attack, but if you're a heart doctor, you know I had a heart incident," he says, adding, "I'd love a doctor to explain to me what the difference is." Physicians informed him that his widow-maker artery was "completely blocked," he said.

Shares of ViacomCBS are down more than 20% in early trading as Wall Street digests the company’s streaming strategy, outlook and financials announced after the market closed Tuesday, and clearly has some issues.

Todd Spangler NY Digital EditorShares of Paramount, the new corporate name of ViacomCBS, took a dive after the media conglomerate told Wall Street that it was more aggressively equipping itself for battle in the streaming wars.The stock was down more than 15% in premarket trading Wednesday, coming a day after Paramount’s 2022 investor day presentation that detailed revised financial forecasts including a bigger capital outlay for its streaming strategy, led by Paramount Plus.Investors were apparently unnerved about the heavier investment Paramount plans to make in the streaming biz — it plans to boost spending on streaming content to $6 billion by 2024, versus $4 billion previously — and the resulting hit to profitability. The CFO of ViacomCBS, soon to be known as Paramount, said Tuesday that the company is looking hard for “efficiencies” at its traditional businesses to divert as much cash it can to streaming, where investment will hit an estimated $6 billion in 2024.

ViacomCBS unveiled a slew of new news Tuesday during an investor day presentation that followed the release of the company’s fourth-quarter earnings.

Yellowstone is the crown jewel in the newly rebrand Paramount Global but the Kevin Costner-led series lives on streaming in the U.S. with rival Peacock.

ViacomCBS CEO Bob Bakish said the company now anticipates 100 million streaming subscribers in 2024 – well above a previous forecast of 65M-75M, after record ads in the fourth quarter and amid a rebranding of the company to Paramount – (officially ‘Paramount Global’ but the company prefers to be called just ‘Paramount’.)

ViacomCBS President Bob Bakish announced today during the conglom’s investor day that all new Paramount theatrical releases will head straight to Paramount+ after their run in cinemas starting in 2024.

ViacomCBS is rebranding to become Paramount Global, effective Feb. 16, the latest giant pivot in a rapidly transforming media and entertainment landscape. It’s the name of the company’s storied studio and its centerpiece streaming network Paramount+, which launched in March of 2021.
