The Cribs have spoken to NME about how “perverse” it seems that their first three albums have re-entered the Top 10, as well as sharing some thoughts on the “indie sleaze” phenomenon.The Wakefield indie-punk trio are currently playing a run of intimate shows across the UK after re-issuing their first three records – 2004 debut ‘The Cribs’, 2005 follow-up ‘The New Fellas’ and 2007’s ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’.Now in the midweek album charts, their debut is at Number Eight, ‘The New Fellas’ is at Number Seven, and their breakthrough third album has crashed into the Top Five at Number Four – just beneath new releases by Maggie Rogers and Harry Styles, and Beyoncé’s latest effort ‘Renaissance’.“We’ve been so busy playing multiple shows a day and haven’t really had any days off, so we haven’t really had chance to process it yet – but it’s certainly not what we were expecting when we did these reissues,” frontman Ryan Jarman told NME. “The fundamental reason for doing these reissues was because the vinyl had been out of print for such a long time.“We didn’t expect anything like this, but it’s amazing.

The Cribs have announced a one-off show in Liverpool, celebrating 20 years of their debut album by playing their first two albums in full. Find ticket details below.The British Indie giants announced news of the forthcoming show on Instagram this morning (March 25), and confirmed that it will be their only headline gig in 2024.Set to take place at the Olympia venue in Liverpool, the gig will be held on May 24 and will see them celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut by performing their two first albums in full.They will also play a second set on the night, which will comprise entirely of fan favourites from across their discography.“We were not intending on playing any headline shows this year, but to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our debut album, we will be hosting a special 2 SET event at the beautiful Olympia in Liverpool,” The Cribs wrote on Instagram.

Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds have been announced to headline Sheffield’s Rock N Roll Circus 2023.The former Oasis singer-songwriter topped the bill at the inaugural Rock N Roll Circus in Newcastle last summer, with organisers announcing he will now return for a second year alongside Happy Mondays, The Cribs, The Joy Formidable and Somebody’s Child.The concert will take place at Don Valley Bowl on Friday, September 1, with a series of concerts continuing across the weekend (September 2, 3). Modest Mouse have announced a new North American tour with The Cribs, due to take place this spring.The two bands have long had a link, with the Wakefield trio recruiting the Portland band’s Joe Plummer to add some percussion to some tracks in 2007. Later, in 2008, Johnny Marr completed his touring duties with Modest Mouse and left the line-up to join The Cribs, with whom he played for three years.Now the groups are hitting the road together for a number of gigs across North America, which will begin in Baltimore in April.
