The Cribs have spoken to NME about how “perverse” it seems that their first three albums have re-entered the Top 10, as well as sharing some thoughts on the “indie sleaze” phenomenon.The Wakefield indie-punk trio are currently playing a run of intimate shows across the UK after re-issuing their first three records – 2004 debut ‘The Cribs’, 2005 follow-up ‘The New Fellas’ and 2007’s ‘Men’s Needs, Women’s Needs, Whatever’.Now in the midweek album charts, their debut is at Number Eight, ‘The New Fellas’ is at Number Seven, and their breakthrough third album has crashed into the Top Five at Number Four – just beneath new releases by Maggie Rogers and Harry Styles, and Beyoncé’s latest effort ‘Renaissance’.“We’ve been so busy playing multiple shows a day and haven’t really had any days off, so we haven’t really had chance to process it yet – but it’s certainly not what we were expecting when we did these reissues,” frontman Ryan Jarman told NME. “The fundamental reason for doing these reissues was because the vinyl had been out of print for such a long time.“We didn’t expect anything like this, but it’s amazing.

The Maccabees have announced the first support acts for their huge reunion show at All Points East 2025.As confirmed earlier this week, the London band are set to take to stage in the capital’s Victoria Park on August 24 for their first gig together in eight years. The performance will coincide with the 10th anniversary of their fourth and final album, ‘Marks To Prove It’.It was also revealed that The Maccabees would be collaborating with All Points East to curate the full line-up for the day, including “artists that they love, both old and new”.Now, the first wave of opening artists has been shared in the form of Bombay Bicycle Club, The Cribs, Dry Cleaning, Nilüfer Yanya, The Murder Capital, Divorce and Prima Queen.Many more acts are to be announced in the coming months, organisers have promised.

Kaiser Chiefs have spoken to NME about their huge homecoming show in Leeds to mark the 20th anniversary of their 2005 debut album ‘Employment’.The band will play the seven-times Platinum, UK Number Two record in full at their biggest headline show to date when they hit Temple Newsam Park on May 31, 2025.They’re set to be joined by some massive names from the ’00s indie era such as Razorlight, The Cribs and We Are Scientists – all of whom will be showcasing fan-favourite classic albums in their entirety to mark their own 20th anniversaries.Speaking to NME, frontman Ricky Wilson and bassist Simon Rix explained that they wanted the event to be a “time capsule” from those heady days, and told us how they’ll be “doing nostalgia properly”.“Over the last 20 years, people kept telling us, ‘Oh, it’s the first album I bought’ or ‘I bought it when I was this age’, ‘My mum and dad used to listen to it’,” said Rix. “It’s not only the songs, it’s what it means to people and what people were doing at the time.

Kaiser Chiefs have announced a homecoming ‘Employment’ 20th anniversary show with Razorlight, The Cribs and more celebrating their own anniversaries on the stacked lineup.The Leeds indie legends will play their biggest show in their hometown to date at Temple Newsam Park on May 31, 2025, where they will celebrate 20 years of their debut album ‘Employment’.The album remains the biggest-ever selling record from a Leeds act, and is responsible for classics like ‘I Predict A Riot’ and ‘Oh My God’. The Cribs have paid their respects to the legendary musician and producer Steve Albini, following news of his death.Yesterday (May 8), it was announced that Steve Albini, who was known for recording and producing classic albums such as Nirvana‘s ‘In Utero’ and Pixies‘ ‘Surfer Rosa’ among others, had died at the age of 61 due to a heart attack.Now, members of The Cribs have come forward to share their respects for the iconic producer, and recall the memories they have of working with him in the past.The Wakefield indie band first joined forces with Albini back in 2011, shortly after they confirmed that Johnny Marr had departed from the line-up and were beginning work on their fifth studio album ‘In The Belly Of The Brazen Bull’. The LP marked the follow-up to ‘Ignore The Ignorant’, was was shared with the band as a three-piece in May 2012.

The Cribs have announced a one-off show in Liverpool, celebrating 20 years of their debut album by playing their first two albums in full. Find ticket details below.The British Indie giants announced news of the forthcoming show on Instagram this morning (March 25), and confirmed that it will be their only headline gig in 2024.Set to take place at the Olympia venue in Liverpool, the gig will be held on May 24 and will see them celebrate the 20th anniversary of their self-titled debut by performing their two first albums in full.They will also play a second set on the night, which will comprise entirely of fan favourites from across their discography.“We were not intending on playing any headline shows this year, but to celebrate the 20th anniversary of our debut album, we will be hosting a special 2 SET event at the beautiful Olympia in Liverpool,” The Cribs wrote on Instagram.

Modest Mouse have announced a new North American tour with The Cribs, due to take place this spring.The two bands have long had a link, with the Wakefield trio recruiting the Portland band’s Joe Plummer to add some percussion to some tracks in 2007. Later, in 2008, Johnny Marr completed his touring duties with Modest Mouse and left the line-up to join The Cribs, with whom he played for three years.Now the groups are hitting the road together for a number of gigs across North America, which will begin in Baltimore in April.
