A mum whose teenage daughter was tragically found dead has raised worries that she was sexually assaulted in the time leading up to her passing.
Callie Smith, aged 19, was found dead in the early hours of June 10, 2020. An inquest heard how less than a month before, Callie, from Bacup, Lancashire, had confided in her mother that she believed she had been raped and sexually assaulted, Lancs Live reports.
Vanessa O'Neill, Callie's mother, told the hearing on November 22 that her daughter also told her she had attempted to take her own life.
During the first part of a five-day inquest at Rochdale Coroner's Court, senior coroner Joanne Kearsley heard that Callie had struggled with her mental health for several years.
