boxing legend Wladimir Klitschko has called on UK sports fans to “keep up the pressure” on Russian president Vladimir Putin.English football clubs have come together to condemn Russia’s invasion of Ukraine over the past two weeks, with players from all sides taking time to clap and wear clothing showing their support. The Premier League went even further on Tuesday by announcing it has pulled the plug on the Kremlin by suspending the agreement for games to be screened in Russia, as well as donating £1million to the Ukraine war relief fund. And in a thank-you message to fans for standing with Ukraine, former world champion Klitschko called on supporters to keep their efforts going.Klitschko told The Mirror: “We know about Premier League clubs showing their support for Ukraine at games over the weekend, and we are grateful for every single person who joined in.“But to those fans we now ask: Please keep it going - Putin will not stop because of one gesture. “He must see the whole sporting world is disgusted by his aggression.” Wladimir and older brother Vitali - a fellow ex-world heavyweight champion - both answered the call to fight for Ukraine in light of the invasion.Do you think Vladimir Putin will pull back in the face of more sanctions and international condemnation?
