Massive explosion levels terraced house with smoke seen for miles

A massive explosion has levelled a terraced house in West Yorkshire, shaking buildings for some distance around. The huge blast destroyed a house in Ravensthorpe close to Dewsbury, with pictures on Twitter showing the extent of the blaze.

Fire crews and other emergency services were called to the scene at 11.37am to reports of an explosion. West Yorkshire fire service say they are tackling a blaze at the house on Crescent Walk.

Crews from Cleckheaton, Mirfield, Dewsbury, Rastrick, Ossett and Morley are all at the scene. An aerial appliance has also been deployed by the fire service.
