great white shark attack which left a Brit veteran dead. 35-year-old Simon Nellist from Penzance tragically died on Wednesday off the coast of Little Bay, Sydney, after being attacked by a four-and-a-half metre shark.

Beaches in the city were closed for safety reasons after what was the first fatal shark attack there in nearly 60 years. Steven Spielberg's iconic 1975 hit Jaws was due to air on Nine Network's digital multi-channel 9Go the following day, but was pulled as news of the tragedy dominated headlines both in Australia and around the world.

The thriller, based on a 1974 novel by Peter Benchley, follows beachgoers in the US as a summer resort town is terrorised by a man-eating great white.

The carnage see's Roy Scheider's character, police chief Martin Brody, hunt for the beast with the help of a marine biologist and a professional shark hunter (played by Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw respectively).
