Maida Vale fire sees residents evacuated as smoke pours from London tower block

Firefighters are responding to a blaze at a block of flats in Maida Vale, west London. Residents have reportedly been evacuated after the fire broke out in the 20-storey Gaydon House tower on Bourne Terrace on Thursday morning.

In a statement, London Fire Brigade said: "Six firefighters and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a block of flats on Bourne Terrace in Maida Vale. "Part of a flat on the 17th floor of a 20-storey block was alight. "Around 50 people left the building before the Brigade arrived." The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

A major response was launched, with fire crews from Paddington, North Kensington, Kensington, Euston and West Hampstead fire stations all called into action.
