An evil gunman who went on a rampage and massacred 22 people killed nine of his victims by setting houses on fire - and even slaughtered their pets.

Canada's deadliest shooting in the Nova Scotia province earlier this month brought two days of terror to the peaceful community, as the murderer went on a killing spree.

The twister maniac even set houses on fire and burnt his terrified victims alive, Canadian police told reporters yesterday. The shooter, 51-year-old Gabriel Wortman, also killed pets, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in an update to their investigation into the killings.

The shooting took place over 13 hours on April 18 and 19 in the Atlantic province of Nova Scotia, before Wortman was shot dead by police.
