Limbal succeeds Marcia Smith, who co-founded the nonprofit organization with her husband, Oscar-nominated filmmaker Stanley Nelson (“Attica”) in 2000. Firelight supports, provides resources to and advocates on behalf of documentary filmmakers of color.

His first order of business in the new role is to fast-track a “Kool-Aid” movie — the studio’s next billion-dollar bet — and Matt, a starry-eyed cinephile, thinks he can get an auteur director to helm it. He has a meeting with Martin Scorsese (played by none other than Martin Scorsese), who coincidentally pitches an original movie about Jonestown, the mass murder-suicide orchestrated by cult leader Jim Jones in which 900 people died by drinking laced… Kool-Aid.

In the pilot of Apple TV+’s The Studio, the half-hour comedy points the lens back at Hollywood, taking aim at its foibles and follies with as much frequency as Seth Rogen’s Matt Remick — the bumbling yet passionate newly appointed head of the fictional Continental Studios — shoots himself in the foot.

Dig!, a documentary about two bands – The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols – is a musical trainwreck, equal parts romantic comedy and horror film that follows the highs and lows of being a musician, in the studio, on the road and in their own heads.

Cast has been set for White Night, a thriller about one of the most infamous cult stories of all time – the Jonestown Massacre – which is being helmed by Anne Sewitsky (Happy, Happy).
