Dozens of soldiers are feared dead after the Iranian Navy reportedly opened fire at one of its own ships by accident. The friendly fire is said to have caused the vessel known as Konarak to capsize on Sunday near Jask.
At least one person has been confirmed dead, while several are injured. An unconfirmed number of 40 are said to be missing. The ship that opened fire in the Gulf of Oman was a destroyer, according to reports, and caused extensive damage.
State-run news agency ISNA claimed that it accidentally fired a C-802 Noor missile during a military exercise. The accident was being 'closely examined by technical experts', the news agency announced.
