Huge fire rips through primary school as dozens of firefighters scrambled

dailystar.co.ukA huge blaze is ripping through a primary school in Newcastle tonight. Dozens of firefighters are tackling the fire at Backworth Park Primary School.
The school has been engulfed in flames with huge plumes of smoke rising from the building. It is reported the fire is taking place at the school's old site, with a new site having opened in 2018.
The fire broke out at around 7.20pm tonight with fire crews arriving within 10 minutes. A Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service spokesman said: "We were called at 7.23pm to reports of a fire at Backworth Park Primary School. "We arrived on scene at 7.33pm and currently have nine appliances on scene as well as officers." It is not yet known if anyone has been injured in the blaze.
