Lando Norris has rued "not being more of a rebel" during his fight with McLaren team-mate Daniel Ricciardo at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix on Sunday.Team orders prevented Norris from attempting to overtake Ricciardo and move up to eighth place in Baku, with the British driver ending the race 0.349 seconds behind his colleague.
During the race, he was told over the team radio: “Hold position, it’s a good result for the team – appreciate it.”Reflecting on the race, Norris later accepted the orders but rued not being more rebellious and ignoring them in order to claim more points from the race.Speaking after the race, via Formula1.com, he explained: “I am a team player so I accepted that I couldn’t overtake at the end, and I couldn’t go for the position.
Daniel did help me out in the middle, it was one lap that he wasn’t allowed to overtake me on.“If the return favour is to not overtake him at all in the last three laps, I guess I have to accept it.
I think it was fair, I don’t think what we did was incorrect. It’s just you’re racing, you always want to push it, you always want to find what the limit of it is.
