Emily Longeretta Lifetime’s holiday movie slate is here! The network’s annual “It’s a Wonderful Lifetime” event kicks off on Nov. 5 with new movies premiering every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday all season long! This year, the slate includes 26 new holiday films. Melissa Joan Hart executive produces and directs her fourth Lifetime movie this year with “Santa Bootcamp,” starring Emily Kinney and Patrick Cassidy.

2023 BET Awards are ready to celebrate Black excellence across music, television, film and sports, and the nominations are stacked.This year's list of nominees — announced by the network on Thursday — is led by Drake, who scored the prize of most nominated with seven nods, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage and Best Collaboration with Future and Tems. GloRilla reigns as the most nominated woman of the night with six nominations, including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year for  and Video of the Year for «Tomorrow 2» with Cardi B.21 Savage and Lizzo earned the third-highest number of nods, with five nominations each, followed by Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice and SZA with four nominations each. Memphis rapper Glorilla nearly meets him at a tie, clocking in with six recognitions as the 2022 winner of BET’s breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year. Among his nominations, Drake is up for best group alongside 21 Savage, best collaboration with Future and Tems for their radio favorite “Wait for U,” and album of the year for “Her Loss.” Glorilla competes with Drake in the best collaboration category twice — once for her feature with HItkidd (“F.N.F. Let’s Go”) and Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”). The Memphis rapper is also up for album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”

The 27th edition of the festival will be held June 14-18 in Miami Beach, followed by a virtual program June 19-25 on ABFF Play. On Thursday, June 15, the Emmy-winning writer, producer and actor will sit for an intimate one-on-one conversation, billed as “The Lena Waithe Effect,” where she’ll recount her journey in the entertainment industry. William Okuwah Garrett, film editor on Hollywood Shuffle and director of music videos during the “Black Pack” era of the early ’90s, has died. He was 73. His wife, producer-director Marlene McCurtis, told Deadline that Garrett died December 9 of complications related to kidney disease.

Lifetime is upping its holiday movie game by adding three more movies to its 2022 It’s a Wonderful Lifetime movie slate, which will include a reunion of Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman stars Jane Seymour and Joe Lando in a flick exec produced by Toni Braxton.

Selome Hailu This year’s BET Awards experienced a boost from last year’s numbers, drawing in 3.2 million viewers across a simulcast of 10 Paramount Global networks on Sunday.This marks a 34% jump in viewership from 2021, when BET’s in-person ceremony brought in only 2.4 million viewers across multiple outlets. In comparison, the 2020 BET Awards (which were held virtually) averaged 3.7 million people, in large part due to simulcasting with CBS. (CBS didn’t return as a partner in 2021 or 2022.)BET averaged 2.1 million viewers out of this year’s total 3.2 million.
