After an intense finale cliffhanger, the second installment picks up with Denita Jordan (Yolanda Adams) tries to protect her kingdom after going through tragedy.

The 2023 BET Awards are underway celebrating the best performances in music, TV, film and sports. Live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, the event is also celebrating 50 years of Hip Hop with Busta Rhymes set to be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Chloe Bailey will be honoring the legendary Tina Turner during the second edition of ‘Juneteenth: A Global Celebration for Freedom’ hosted by CNN. Taking place at the Greek Theater in Los Angeles, the Grammy-nominated musician will be paying tribute to the late star, commemorating her impact and influence on Monday, June 19.Vice President Kamala Harris will be making a special appearance at the event, which will feature more artists, including Coi Leray, Nelly, Miguel, Kirk Franklin, Mike Phillips, Jodeci, SWV, Muni Long, and many more.

2023 BET Awards are ready to celebrate Black excellence across music, television, film and sports, and the nominations are stacked.This year's list of nominees — announced by the network on Thursday — is led by Drake, who scored the prize of most nominated with seven nods, including Best Male Hip Hop Artist, Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Best Group with 21 Savage and Best Collaboration with Future and Tems. GloRilla reigns as the most nominated woman of the night with six nominations, including Best Female Hip Hop Artist, Best New Artist, Album of the Year for  and Video of the Year for «Tomorrow 2» with Cardi B.21 Savage and Lizzo earned the third-highest number of nods, with five nominations each, followed by Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Chris Brown, Ice Spice and SZA with four nominations each. Memphis rapper Glorilla nearly meets him at a tie, clocking in with six recognitions as the 2022 winner of BET’s breakthrough hip-hop artist of the year. Among his nominations, Drake is up for best group alongside 21 Savage, best collaboration with Future and Tems for their radio favorite “Wait for U,” and album of the year for “Her Loss.” Glorilla competes with Drake in the best collaboration category twice — once for her feature with HItkidd (“F.N.F. Let’s Go”) and Cardi B (“Tomorrow 2”). The Memphis rapper is also up for album of the year for “Anyways, Life’s Great.”

The 27th edition of the festival will be held June 14-18 in Miami Beach, followed by a virtual program June 19-25 on ABFF Play. On Thursday, June 15, the Emmy-winning writer, producer and actor will sit for an intimate one-on-one conversation, billed as “The Lena Waithe Effect,” where she’ll recount her journey in the entertainment industry. William Okuwah Garrett, film editor on Hollywood Shuffle and director of music videos during the “Black Pack” era of the early ’90s, has died. He was 73. His wife, producer-director Marlene McCurtis, told Deadline that Garrett died December 9 of complications related to kidney disease.
