WHEN Kate O’ Toole takes to the stage in a marquee tonight, it will bring a certain symmetry to an acting career that began six decades ago.
The daughter of theatre and film royalty Peter O’Toole and Siân Phillips doesn’t remember her debut but she hardly could be expected to do so. ‘The joy of being in a troupe of travelling actors with just a tent is that it brings me full circle to the place where my life began,’ she explains. ‘My father was at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford-upon-Avon playing Petruchio in The Taming Of The Shrew when I was born. ‘The production included the preface, often not staged, which involves the entire cast dressed/disguised as strolling players, looking for a place to set up their tent.
