Ukraine. The billionaire made his fortune in plastic bags and is one of Vladimir Putin's closest friends and confidants, rumoured to have set him up with his current wife - so it's perhaps not surprising he's been singled out for fiscal punishments.

Yesterday (March 3), Usmanov, who owned shares in Arsenal between 2007 and 2018, was put on the UK's sanctions list by foreign secretary Liz Truss along with fellow oligarch Igor Shuvalov.As a result, the pair will be subject to a full asset freeze and travel ban.

And in the case of Usmanov, those assets are pretty incredible. As is fashionable for Russian oligarchs, Usmanov invested heavily in stately English homes and now boasts an English property portfolio worth a reported £210million.Since 2004, the 68-year-old Tycoon has acted as the lord of Sutton Place, a 300 acre Tudor Manor House in the heart of Surrey.

The imposing property is the sort of thing you'd see on ITV's Downton Abbey but for the last 18 years, the language spoken inside have been anything but the Queen's English.
