Huge flames seen as firefighters tackle car fire on residential street

Dramatic video footage captured the moment firefighters battled to get a blaze under control in Wythenshawe. A car fire broke out on Petersfield Drive, in Baguley, at around 6.15pm yesterday (October 30).

Images from the scene show huge flames soaring above the street, while the car can be seen gutted from the blaze. Firefighters can be seen pulling a hose from their engine in a bid to tackle the fire.

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service says one fire engine from Altrincham was called out to the scene. The crew remained in attendance for around 30 minutes. A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service said: “At just after 6.15pm yesterday (Monday, October 30) one fire engine from Altrincham attended a vehicle fire on Petersfield Drive, Wythenshawe. "Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used one hose reel to extinguish the fire while making the scene safe.
