Kasabian have announced details of their first new album since the departure of former frontman Tom Meighan. Check out new single ‘Scripture’ from ‘The Alchemist’s Euphoria’ below, along with our interview with Serge Pizzorno.Having dropped the first taster of their new direction with the single ‘ALYGATYR‘ last year, now the Leicester indie veterans – consisting of chief songwriter Pizzorno, bassist Chris Edwards, drummer Ian Matthews and guitarist Tim Carter following the departure of Meighan after he was convicted of assaulting his then-girlfriend-now-wife in 2020 – return with ‘Scripture’.Co-produced with Fraser T Smith (of Stormzy, Adele, Dave and Sam Smith fame), Pizzorno told NME how the track had “a cinematic elegance to it”,  but was driven by “a heartbeat of empowerment”.“It’s just those first eight bars, it’s all you need to know,” he said.

Northern Irish rock band Snow Patrol have announced a huge eight-date tour featuring a gig at Manchester’s Co-op Live next year.

Idris Elba has shared a new single, demanding the UK government to take more concrete action to ban ‘zombie knives’ and machetes.The new track, titled ‘Knives Down’, sees the actor put pressure on politicians in the UK to crack down on the number of knife-related crimes across the country, in a bid to reduce the number of young people losing their lives.Speaking with the BBC, he also accused politicians of not giving the issue “the focus it deserves”.Zombie knives are defined as weapons having “a cutting edge, a serrated edge and images or words suggesting they are used for violence”. They were added to a list of prohibited offensive weapons in 2016, but criticism still followed, as the sale of the knives still exists online.Featuring DB Maz and produced by Fraser T Smith and FaNaTiX, ‘Knives Down’ features hard-hitting lyrics which urge Parliament to take urgent action, more so than ever before.“My guy, you don’t look fly with the samurai and its blood dirty/ Eyes cry in the neighbourhood when the blood spills when they die early,” read the opening lyrics.

Tom Walker has today (November 3) unveiled details of his second album, ‘I Am’, and shared a new single from the upcoming project, ‘Freaking Out’ – listen to this below.Walker’s latest follows on from his debut album, 2019’s ‘What A Time To Be Alive’, and will arrive on May 31. All Points East has confirmed the final acts for its 2023 edition.The festival is due to take place in Victoria Park, east London between August 18 and August 28. DEALSCTM Outlander has acquired a stack of music rights from producer/songwriter Fraser T Smith, including his interest in songs he worked on with the likes Tiësto, Rita Ora, Stormzy, Dave, Craig David and Raye. Naman Ramachandran A reimagined version of Fleetwood Mac’s all-time classic song “Don’t Stop” is the soundtrack to environmental organization Greenpeace’s new call to action. Fleetwood Mac vocalist and keyboard player Christine McVie wrote the song, which featured in hit 1977 album “Rumours,” and she gave Greenpeace the rights to use the song before she died in 2022. Created by Grammy-winning producer Fraser T Smith, who has worked with Stormzy, Adele, Dave and Drake, and acclaimed British rapper Avelino (“God Save The Streets”), the song features instrumentation from jazz talent development organization Tomorrow’s Warriors and vocals from the House Gospel Choir. 

The UK’s Music Producers Guild presented its annual awards last week, with Kid Harpoon scoring a triple win. Producer Fraser T Smith has announced the launch of the Future Producer Academy, in partnership with collecting society PPL and the Music Producers Guild.The initiative was formally unveiled last night as Smith was presented with the Outstanding Contribution To UK Music prize at the MPG’s annual awards in London. The academy aims to boost the careers of emerging producers from under-represented backgrounds through a combination of financial and educational support.“I’ve had an unorthodox career journey and there have been many times when I’d loved to have a more experienced hand in the business sit down and help me understand how things work”, says Smith.“The idea of the Producer Academy is to do just that”, he explains.

Niall Doherty In late 2019, British producer and songwriter Fraser T Smith travelled to New Orleans to meet Albert Woodfox, the former Black Panther who spent over 40 years in solitary confinement. The encounter was part of Smith’s debut solo album, “12 Questions,” an ambitious project that poses 12 big head-scratchers, such as “Is It Too Late to Save the Planet?” and “What Matters Most?” to an array of artists and activists and turns the results into a mix of spoken word musings and indelible pop bangers.
