Elton John has unveiled his favourite festive songs of 2023.The legendary singer-songwriter shared his selection as part of a Christmas edition of his Rocket Hour show on Apple Music.The list included his own 1973 festive hit ‘Step Into Christmas’ along with seasonal songs and covers by Elvis, RAYE and Phoebe Bridgers.Taking to his official Instagram account, ahead of the show he wrote: “It’s the Rocket Hour Christmas Special! Reading & Leeds festivals return this week, and speculation surrounding potential secret sets has begun.The 2023 edition of the twin-site event is due to take place at Richfield Avenue in Reading, and Bramham Park in Leeds between August 25-27. Billie Eilish has announced an OVERHEATED event in London in order to help tackle the ongoing climate crisis.According to a press release, “Following last year’s highly coveted, multi-day climate-focused event in London, OVERHEATED will return on Wednesday, August 30 to Flipper’s Roller Boogie Palace in West London from 10am to 5pm.”Climate activists, musicians along with other leading voices will be in attendance for a day which will be “filled with discussion, community building and resources to help tackle the climate crisis, roller skating and delicious plant-based food” from Neat Burger. Eilish will also be making an appearance.The event will be hosted by BBC’s Abbie McCarthy and will feature panels with special guests such as Earthrise CEO Alice Eady, fashion entrepreneur Samata Pattinson, and climate activists Dominique Palmer and Tori Tsui along with others.Tickets for OVERHEATED will go on sale on August 16 at 10am BST.

Gigi Perez has released a new EP, ‘How To Catch A Falling Knife’, following a string of singles.The rising musician was born in New Jersey and raised in Florida and had her breakthrough moment with 2021’s ‘Celene’ – a vulnerable song dedicated to her late older sister.‘How To Catch A Falling Knife’ was released today (April 28) and includes the previous singles ‘Figurines’, ‘Sally’ and more. “‘How To Catch A Falling Knife’ is not a guide but a question,” Perez said of the new EP in a press release.

Aaron Dessner has taken to social media to pay tribute to Sharon Van Etten’s iconic album, ‘Tramp’, which he claims is the first record he ever produced. Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National, have announced details of their self-titled debut album and shared its lead single.‘Complete Mountain Almanac’ was formed after Karijord set out to make an album “about climate change in 12 suites, representing the 12 months of the year,” and approached her friend of 15 years, Jessica – who works as a poet, dancer and multimedia artist based in Italy – to contribute “poetic and lyrical” elements to the project.The band and album’s title came from a book of poetry written by Jessica in the wake of her breast cancer diagnosis, as well as coming to reflect the environmental themes on the record.
