A man has died after being struck by a car in Radcliffe - with the driver arrested on the scene. The 55-year-old man was walking when he was hit by the vehicle on Water Street at around 6.35pm yesterday (Thursday, November 2), police said.
Emergency services were scrambled to the scene and he was rushed to the Salford Royal hospital. Tragically, he died there last night.
The driver - a 33-year-old man - remained on the scene and was detained by officers. He was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and causing death whilst uninsured and having failed a roadside drug test.
