Chelsea after Roman Abramovich's announcement.Abramovich, on Saturday afternoon, announced he would be handing over the 'stewardship' as it was in the 'best interest' of the club. However, according to The Telegraph, the trustees only learned of Abramovich's plan when the announcement was made. The report also states that the trustees also have no idea if Abramovich might be sanctioned by the British Government. The trustees are said to have gathered for a meeting after the announcement, and a potential structure for the trustees was discussed alongside their desire not to be seen as a front for Abramovich.Jamie Carragher today fumed at Abramovich's statement: "I would feel by that Abramovich statement, the fact there was no mention at all of what was going on right now."The whole world can see what’s going on and I think it was a really poor statement to come out with."Chelsea came out this morning, maybe could’ve been a little bit stronger themselves in that statement. "But, as I said, I don’t think it’s been a great 24 hours for Chelsea and Thomas Tuchel and his players I’m sure will want to rectify that."Chelsea faced Liverpool the day after Abramovich's statement. And Tuchel's side twice had the ball in the net, but twice they saw the flag raised by the linesman for offside. The game went to penalties, and after being subbed on by Tuchel, Kepa conceded all 11 spot-kicks before blazing his over the bar to hand Liverpool the first silverware of the season..
