Wladimir Klitschko is no stranger to conflict, but may find himself involved in one rather different to what he has been used to in the past.
Instead of coming up against other boxers inside a ring, he might find himself fighting Russian soldiers if Vladimir Putin gives the order to invade Ukraine.
Around 100,000 troops are currently stationed on the border, as well as heavy artillery and ammunition as tensions escalate in eastern Europe.Russia has denied suggestions that it is preparing to invade, but did say it could be forced into military action if Ukraine joins the US-led Nato military alliance.
Former world heavyweight champion Klitschko has joined his country's reserve forces so he can help defend his city, the capital Kiev, if necessary. "I signed up as a reserve for the territorial forces, for defending the city of Kyiv, because of everything that is currently going on around Ukraine and the aggression from the Russian side," the 45-year-old said.
